What’s in a Name?

Posted on January 17, 2010 by Nilsa

I went to a fast food chain restaurant on Saturday. Yes, we all know which one. My daughter and I try to eat with size in mind, forget the menu orders that add SO much more than you can eat just to claim you get a great deal for the price. When I think what it costs to take the weight off that just sticks like crazy glue to my hips, it’s so not worth the —– meal. OK, we ordered two cheeseburgers, you remember the smallest one possible, no extras. Then the drink and fries. I asked for a small size and was surprised to get something that was definitely at least a medium size drink and fries. We could both eat and drink from them. So what happened? It turns out, one now needs to order a Mini sized drink and fries to get what used to be a small. Who are you kidding? Is the game just change the name to have us feel better about what we order. If  “large” or “double whopper” is not cool just change the name. As you sit there downing a medium size something just remember it used to be called a LARGE. Are Marketing companies so convinced humans are unable to reason, recognize amounts? Are we that gullible. Who’s in charge? Who wags the dog?

Oh, I love this, that’s exactly what we discussed a few days ago.

But what can one do? They think we all suck up to it and get the even bigger super size humongoburger.
